What is a newsletter reader app?
A newsletter reader app is an app made only for reading newsletters. Instead of arriving in your email next to everything else, editions arrive somewhere designed for reading.

How they work
There are two models. Some apps link to your existing email account and pull newsletters out of it. Others, like Stakker, give you a dedicated address that you subscribe with, so your personal email is never involved.
What they usually do better than email
- Show only newsletters, nothing else.
- Present each edition for reading, often with the sender’s own design.
- Make it easy to find and subscribe to new newsletters.
- Keep unknown senders out until you approve them.
Do you need one?
If you subscribe to a handful of newsletters and read them as they arrive, your email app is fine. If you subscribe to many, and they pile up unread among receipts and notifications, a reader app usually means you read more of them. Compare the options in the best newsletter apps for iPhone.
Questions and answers
Is a newsletter reader the same as a read-it-later app?
Not quite. Read-it-later apps such as Readwise Reader save articles, PDFs and books as well as newsletters. A newsletter reader like Stakker is made only for newsletters.
