Frequently asked questions
Everything people usually ask before and after they download Stakker.
Questions
What is Stakker?
Stakker is a free iPhone app for reading newsletters. You get an address of your own, subscribe with it, and every edition arrives in a stack made for reading, laid out exactly as the writer set it.
Is Stakker free?
Yes. Stakker is free to download and use on the App Store.
Which devices does Stakker work on?
Stakker is an iPhone app and needs iOS 17 or later.
Do I need to give Stakker access to my Gmail or other email?
No. Stakker never reads your personal email and never asks for access to another account. Newsletters reach you because you subscribe with your Stakker address.
How do I sign in?
With Apple or Google. That is the only account Stakker holds.
What is my Stakker address?
An email address of your own at stakker.co. It is yours the moment you sign in and it never changes. Use it where you sign up for newsletters, and nowhere else.
How do I subscribe to a newsletter?
Find it in Discover by name or topic and subscribe in a tap. For anything not in the catalogue, type your Stakker address into the publisher’s own sign-up form on the web.
Which newsletters can I read in Stakker?
Any newsletter that can be sent to an email address. The catalogue has more than two hundred ready to subscribe to in a tap, from fashion and interiors to cars, tech and news.
Will newsletters look the way the writer designed them?
Yes. Every edition is shown with the sender’s own layout: their images, buttons and typography. Links open inside the app.
What happens when someone I did not subscribe to sends me something?
The sender waits at the door until you say yes. Say no and it never asks again. Nothing reaches your stack uninvited.
What are Headlines?
Choose the topics you follow and the day’s headlines from well-known publications sit beside your newsletters. They disappear after two days.
What does “measured, not promised” mean?
Stakker measures how often each newsletter actually reaches you, so you can see whether a weekly newsletter really arrives weekly.
Can I keep reading newsletters in my normal email too?
Yes. Stakker does not touch your existing email. Newsletters you already receive keep arriving there until you change the address with the publisher.
How do I move a newsletter I already get to Stakker?
Subscribe again with your Stakker address, either in Discover or on the publisher’s site, then stop the old subscription with the publisher if you no longer want it in your email.
Is Stakker the same as reading Substack in the Substack app?
No. The Substack app is built around Substack publications. Stakker works with newsletters from any sender, including brands, newsrooms and writers on any platform.
Where is my data stored?
The privacy policy describes what Stakker stores and where. You can read it at stakker.co/privacy.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, from inside the app. The privacy policy explains what is removed.
Who makes Stakker?
